I visited Glasgow in December 2019. I’m going to share my experience of where I went and what happened. Day 1-
I travelled to Glasgow at around 1PM. Upon arrival at Glasgow Central station there was a buzz about the place. After leaving the station I walked to St Enoch Centre. Here I had lunch at McDonald’ in a very welcoming food court. It was very clean and a friendly atmosphere. Inside the centre is a range of shops But outside In the streets there is a even bigger range. On Argyle street you will find a massive JD sports among many other retailers. Buchanan street was buzzing with excitement and live singers due to The fact it was Christmas time. After a small bit of shopping I took the short walk along the river to the Hilton Garden Inn. I was there to see a show at the SSE hydro and it was a super location , located right next to the hydro. Check in was easy and the staff were friendly and the room was very clean and had a fantastic view. The walk to the hydro took less than a minute. it was easy to get inside and we quickly found our seats. My only complaint would be that the bars seemed to close very early and so you couldn’t even purchase a juice near the end of the show. After leaving the hydro I headed back to the hotel and Went to sleep for the night. The bed was comfy and the room was a good temperature.
Day 2-
Day 2 started with a lovely breakfast in the hotel. The selection was super And I especially loved the touch of a waffle maker. I then took a walk across the river and walked along past STV, BBC and the Glasgow science centre before crossing back over again. I continued to walk to the riverside museum. It was a pleasant museum and especially good considering it was free entry. They had a good range of interactive materials exhibiting different types of transport from over the years. After leaving here I took the 15 minute walk to the Kelvingrove art gallery. This was very impressive and had A very large collection. As it was Christmas they had a massive set up outside as well as a Santa control centre inside. After leaving here I walked along to Kelvinhall underground station. Purchasing a ticket was easy and the trip to Buchanan street station was quick and pleasant. Once here I carried out a little shopping visiting the Buchanan galleries which contained a lot of shops. From here I took the walk back down The buzzing Buchanan Street with live street performers Everywhere. It really got you into the Christmas mood. On the walk back to the hotel i stopped in at Tim hortons. The donuts were especially good and I suggest anyone visiting Glasgow goes and tries it out. After arriving back to the hotel I went into the Scottish event campus to Clydebuilt. Although the prices were high the food was of good quality and is a nice place to go before a show. Once again the entry to the show was quick although the crowds were very packed. After the show I took a quick walk up to Finnieston McDonald’s. it was very busy and it took a while to be served although this was to be expected due to the large crowd. There was also a disco trolley in the street providing a good bit of entertainment for the walk. Then I walked back to the hotel for another nights sleep.
Day 3-
The breakfast was the same quality as the day before and filled me up for the day. There was a machine at the door to get a takeaway hot drink which I would recommend. I then took the walk back along the river to the centre. Before I could leave I had to visit Tim Hortons again and get a Bag of donuts for the travels. I took a walk up Buchanan street taking in the buzz once more before I boarded my train at Glasgow Central to go home.
Conclusion
Overall I think Glasgow is a superb city. The buzz was superb and the people all friendly. I never had any problems and would definitely visit again. The hotel was pleasant and was in a very good location.
Top Thing to do
I would definitely say the walk along the river was excellent as well as the museums and shopping although my top thing to do would have to be visit Tim Hortons as it was absolutely superb
